"LOVE ME JUST LIKE THAT" by David Guilbault You’ve got no cause to be concerned. I’ve nothing lost from what you’ve burned. If you can love me just like that. You heat me from the wind and rain. You keep me cauterized from pain. If you can love me just like that. God damn it girl. You know what to do. And I’ll be damned if I don’t know. You’re the flame that seals my wounds. You’re the warmth inside my rooms. If you can love me just like that. God damn it girl. You know what to do. And I’ll be damned if it ain’t so. You’re the burn that frees the night. You’re what turns the dark to light. If you can love me just like that. "Love Me Just Like That" © 2014 David Guilbault _________________________

"ENOUGH'S ENOUGH" by David Guilbault For all the times I tried. It never was enough. Always loving, always kind. But it never was enough. Your cup was never full, No matter what I’d do. After all that’s tried and true, Enough’s enough for me and you. The weary world is waxing cold. It’s nearly done now we are told. Some pitched a fight. Some made a fuss. But it never was enough. Darkness stayed long past the night. Hungry hearts gave up the fight. Some stayed true. Some played rough. But it never was enough. No, it never was enough. For all the times they tried. It never was enough. Always fighting the good fight. But it never was enough. The child is teacher to the man. And she has had all that she can. She won’t take it anymore. Enough’s enough, she tells the world. "Enough's Enough" © 2015 David Guilbault _________________________

"THE FINAL BLOW" by David Guilbault She took him by surprise. That’s her claim to fame. Before he realized, He’d lost the game. She knocked him down and out, Pummeled to the ground. It was a bloody bout, Round to round. He never saw what laid him low. He never saw the final blow. The ring of moneyed men, Know how to rig the rules, Know how to fix the fight And cheat the world. They face the working men With motives mean and cruel, With weapons meant to kill And crush and rule. Workers left to starve. Lands all stripped of gold. No one’s watching hard To see what’s so. Peace, down for the count, Wounded from the blows, Crippled by the boxers Hitting low. Justice must be won, Defended ev’ry day. When all’s said and done It’s the only way. Keep your eyes on guard. Keep your fists held high. Or the final blow Will take your life. "The Final Blow" © 2014 David Guilbault _________________________

I Belong 03:32
I BELONG by David Guilbault Not to worry. Oh, not to cry for A world gone weary from all of its lies. Take a stand for what is true, And watch the whole wide world out gunning for you. I, oh, I - belong. I, oh, I - belong. I belong. Tables turn. Friends will betray. Fame and fortune, faded away. Left alone, naked and cold. Throw the stone and take your hold. I, oh, I - belong. I, oh, I - belong. I belong. I belong where I’m found. I belong where I’m around. I belong where I’m bound. I belong to this sound. I belong. I belong. Here and now is where I will stay. Ain’t nobody gonna turn me away. Ain’t no wind that’s got the gust To blow my truth into the dust. I, oh, I - belong. I, oh, I - belong. I belong. I belong where I’m found. I belong where I’m around. I belong where I’m bound. I belong to this sound. I belong. I belong. "I Belong" © 2014 David Guilbault _________________________

"DOWN A BROKEN ROAD" by David Guilbault He took the wrong turn, right from the start, Destined down a broken road. Gave it all he had with all his heart. Never got nothin’ to show. Sad man, walking his sad land, Carrying his heavy load Down a broken road. Ev’ry stranger is a friend to him. All are wise men in his world. Telling drunken tales of where and when He can find his golden girl. Sad man, walking his sad land Carrying his heavy load Down a broken road. That’s the way he’s got to be That’s the way he gets to see Down a broken road. Reaching higher than he can climb. Falling short, when he can’t hold. Same sad story, time after time. Worn from all the times it’s told. Sad man, walking his sad land. Carrying his heavy load Down a broken road. "Down a Broken Road" © 2014 David Guilbault _________________________

"THE LAST TIME" by David Guilbault Before you walk away, Think it through. It’s the last time I will say, I love you. Think before you go. Before you leave us low. It’s the last time I will say, I love you. Hear my words. Hear my plea. Don’t run out on you and me. Before you say goodbye, Before you make us cry, Remember what I’ve told you Through and through. My love for you is strong. If yours is not for long, It’s the last time I will say, I love you. Hear my words. Hear my plea. Don’t run out on you and me. Listen to these words, once more. I love you forever and ever more. I love you forever and ever more. Before you walk away, Think it through. It’s the last time I will say, I love you. about

OPEN: Parlor Roots

The songs on "Open" were written in open tunings on vintage parlor acoustic guitars built in Chicago in the Thirties and Forties. They were recorded on a 30's Regal (Tracks 2,4,6) and a 40's Kay (Tracks 1,3,5). But, the subject matter is very much about the travails of today. These are truthful songs about greed, power, life choices, acceptance and rejection. Jeremy Serwer plays lead on a Regal resonator guitar.
