"ANOTHER CHRISTMAS" by David Guilbault Twinkle lights that no one sees. Toy train running ‘round the tree. No children’s laughter at the sight. All alone on Christmas night. Another Christmas all alone. No season’s joy inside this home. Silent nights now fill the air. Another Christmas, no one’s there. Far away from family. No relations laughing merrily. No kisses under mistletoe. Another Christmas, all alone. Another Christmas by myself. No joyful ringing of the bells. Silent nights now fill the air. Another Christmas, no one’s there. The gifts are few, opened alone. No dinner bell for me to toll. Merry people all abound. Lonely tears fall to the ground. Another Christmas all alone. No peace and joy for this sad home. Silent nights now chill the air. Another Christmas, no one’s there. "Another Christmas" © 2015 David Guilbault.

"DARK BLACKTOP ROAD" by David Guilbault Heater is cold. Engine is hot. Pedal to the metal Won’t give what I got. Smoke out my pipe. Steam out my hood. Needles all pinnin’. Ain’t looking real good. Gotta get where I’m goin’ Before my whole head explodes. Headin’ to the bottom Down a dark blacktop road. Down a dark blacktop road. Fluids are low. Fever is high. Meter is runnin’. Fixin’ to die. Nothin’ more left. No more to lose. Half tank of gas. The dank of my blues. Gotta get where I’m goin’. Go where I know. Drivin’ to the bottom Down a dark blacktop road. Down a dark blacktop road. "ENOUGH'S ENOUGH" by David Guilbault For all the times I tried. It never was enough. Always loving, always kind. But it never was enough. Your cup was never full, No matter what I’d do. After all that’s tried and true, Enough’s enough for me and you. The weary world is waxing cold. It’s nearly done now we are told. Some pitched a fight. Some made a fuss. But it never was enough. Darkness stayed long past the night. Hungry hearts gave up the fight. Some stayed true. Some played rough. But it never was enough. No, it never was enough. For all the times they tried. It never was enough. Always fighting the good fight. But it never was enough. The child is teacher to the man. And she has had all that she can. She won’t take it anymore. Enough’s enough, her flag’s unfurled. Enough’s enough she tells the world. Enough’s enough she tells the world. "Enough's Enough" © 2015 David Guilbault.

"I'LL GO HIGH" by David Guilbault When you go low, I’ll go high. Throw your low blow. I won’t bat an eye. You can play your game of fear. It won’t hurt me none. ‘Cause I will still be here When all is said and done. ‘Cause I go high. When you preach hate, I’ll show love. When you denigrate, I’ll rise above. You can spread your web of lies, I will tell the truth. You can darken people’s eyes, I’ll give them a clear view. ‘Cause I go high. High. I’ll go high. High. I’ll go high. I go high. When you mock and slam, I’ll offer peace. When you clench your hand, I’ll turn a cheek. You can bring a world of hurt, I won’t play along. You can wallow in the dirt, I will rise in song. ‘Cause I go high. High. I’ll go high. High. I’ll go high. I go high. "I'll Go High" © 2016 David Guilbault.

"IF I AIN'T HURT" by David Guilbault Days fall short, Nights all hold me down. If I ain’t hurt, Then why’s no one around? The life I earned Is bleeding on the mount. If I ain’t hurt Then why’s there blood on the ground? Blows from behind, Knocks out all my breath. Knows she can lie And steal all that is left. Crushes my heart, An anvil on my chest. If I ain’t hurt Then why am I losing my breath? Whoa, oh, yeah it hurts. Whoa, oh, I mean it hurts. Whoa, oh, yeah I’m hurt. Whoa, oh, I mean I hurt. I hold back the tears, Hold back the fears of hate. I know it ain’t right, Still I take the bait. I wish I could stop, Step back from the cliff. If I ain’t hurt Then why’s this pain like this? "LIVING OUR BLUES" by David Guilbault I don’t live in a make-believe world. I don’t believe that I should. I don’t wish on a make-believe star. I only wish that I could. My life is real. It really is hard. This is hardly breaking news. All that I know is that life is a show, We’re all just living our blues. We’re all just living our blues. You can live in a make-believe world. But believing won’t make it so. You can wish on a make-believe star. But wishing won’t stay the woe. Your life is real. It really is hard. This is hardly breaking news. All you can do is give it a go. We’re all just living our blues. We’re all just living our blues. If I thought I could change the world Just by seeing it so, I would embrace all the hurt that it holds And then let all of it go. But I know that ain’t the way of the world. The way of the world is to use. Believe it or not, there’s one thing for sure. We’re all just living our blues. We’re all just living our blues. "Living Our Blues" © 2016 David Guilbault.

"LONG WAY DOWN" by David Guilbault Dark has fallen. Night is pierced with ice. Shadows harken The crippling cold. Souls are callin’ For the fright of guilty eyes. Bellows bark. Screams unfold. It’s been a long way down. It’s been a long, long way down. Waters risin’. Hives all dead and gone. The beast is dyin’ In the sun. The air is hidin’ Behind the stench of ruin. Time is passed. Day is done. Past the warnin’, Cast a feeble sight. Deadly warming. Dreadful world. Nothing born in The sulfur and the fire. Scorching heat. Endless scorn. "Long Way Down" © 2015 David Guilbault.

"ORGANIZE" by David Guilbault Don’t agonize (normalize/demonize/ostracize). Organize. Do not accept this fate. Don’t agonize (normalize/demonize/ostracize). Organize. Don’t ever think that it’s too late. When fear and ignorance abide, And truth is painted as a lie. It’s time to take A stand against the hate That raises fisted hands And strikes you down. When all you see is dark and dim, It only takes one candle to begin. It’s time to see The flames of you and me To burn the light of justice O’er this land. When millions of people disagree, And the county lies fallow at our feet. Plant the seeds, Do the honest deeds. It’s takes toil, sweat and tears To grow a land. When all feels lost and spirits fade, And all the high costs have been paid. Pick your self up. You haven’t done enough. It’s time to raise your voice And join the fray. "PIECES OF MY LIFE" by David Guilbault Pieces of my life are dying, one by one. Lights that lit my way have dimmed and gone. Fewer souls who warmed my heart now feel the sun. And I can feel the cold that’s yet to come, As pieces of my life become undone. Pieces of my life are dying, one by one. Colors on the canvas fade away. Memories, now histories, are left unsung. The tales they tell no scholar cares to save. Stories that no balladeer will play. And I feel incomplete. The hand of god is of a thief. I am robbed and left in grief. Stripped of all that made life sweet. Losing who I am, piece by piece. Pieces of my life are dying, one by one. Lives that mattered scattered into dust. Trees of life, felled in the night, to die and burn. Passions gone that once were loud with life. Ashes all to ashes. Out of sight. And I feel incomplete. The hand of god is of a thief. I am robbed and left in grief. Stripped of all that made life sweet. Losing who I am, piece by piece. Losing who I am, piece by piece Pieces of my life are dying, one by one. "SHOOT 'EM DOWN" by David Guilbault In the dark of night, a madman tries his skills. Checks the rifle’s sight. Sees the children he will kill. In the dark of night, he loads a thousand rounds. And in the morning light, he’s headed into down. He shoots ‘em – down. He shoots ‘em – down. In the dark of night, we mourn with thoughts and prayers. We choose our sides, and lay our passions bare. When all is said and done, we don’t see eye to eye. When it comes to laws and guns, we keep lettin’ people die. We shoot ‘em – down. We shoot ‘em – down. In the dark of night, the bullets strike their prey. And in the morning light, we wish it would go away. In the dark of night, the dancers die from guns. And when we see the light, we know nothing will be done. He shoots ‘em – down. He shoots ‘em – down. In the dark of night, there are zealots armed with guns. They declare a right, they say never can be undone. Politicians are bought. Common sense is voted down. We can talk and talk, and the dead drop round by round. We shoot ‘em – down. We shoot ‘em – down. "Shoot 'em Down" © 2016 David Guilbault.

"THE NIGHT WORE ON" by David Guilbault She wore a satin dress. It made her look her best. When he came around, He wore the smile of his sound. And the night wore on. He wore a cowboy hat. It made him feel all that. When she came to hear, She wore the smile of her cheer. And the night wore on. And the night, sweet night, wore on. And the nights wore on. And they smiled, smiled with song. And their love, love grew strong. And their nights, sweet nights, wore on. They wore each other’s ring. They swore to laugh and sing. Together they would stay And make the music play. And their nights, sweet night wore on. And their songs, sweet songs, played on. And their love, sweet love, stayed strong. "THIS HURTS MY HEART" by David Guilbault This hurts my heart. All this tearing us apart. All this hate. This blindness to its fate. This ignorance that brings the cold and dark. The wounds - cut deep - and bring the blood, When knives - are drawn - down in the mud. All that’s left, what’s fallow and bereft, Are souls now stripped of faith and sliced of love. This hurts my heart. All this tearing us apart. All this hate. This blindness to its fate. This ignorance that brings the cold and dark. Emboldened - are the ones - who fear a world Where ev’ryone - can raise - a flag unfurled. Where ev’ry faith, ev’ry gender, ev’ry race Are knitted all in peace as freedom purled. This hurts my heart. All this tearing us apart. All this hate. This blindness to its fate. This ignorance that brings the cold and dark. What dangers - yet to come - are yet to know. And there are evils - hiding light - still yet to show. It’s up to us to shine on what is just, To spark the light of peace and make it glow. This helps my heart. All this caring is an art. All this love. This rising high above. This joy that braves the cold and fights the dark. This helps my heart. "This Hurts My Heart" © 2016 David Guilbault.

"WE HATE YOUR KIND" by David Guilbault The vest, it is wired. Our martyr, she prays. You infidels cry, as she blows you away. Our chants send a chill, ‘fore the blast and the boom, Through your innocent souls, that our hatred consumes. This is God’s law, through the Word it was sent. Holy Rite calls us all, to smite those who sin. Bow down to the East, then raise up our swords. With the virgins we’ll feast. To the jihad we’re sworn. Our God is great. We hate your kind. Praise Almighty God. We hate your kind. This land it is ours. We will bury you here. Our sacred cause, will feed on your fear. Your blood will be spilled, and soaked in our ground. We’ll take off your heads, while your hands are still bound. To the Heavens we’ll rise. We are the Chosen Ones. We are the tribe, rewarded with Kingdom Come. Your kind is vermin, living on dung just like flies. Only our God be praised. Serve Him or you will die. You are the scum. You are the worms of the world. Soon you’ll be done, under a black flag unfurled. One caliphate, ruled with an iron hand. Serving one God, the only one Terror of Man. Serving one God, the number one Terror of Man Our God is great. We hate your kind. Praise Almighty God. We hate your kind. The vest, it is wired. Our martyr, she prays. "We Hate Your Kind" © 2015 David Guilbault.
