"SCAR" by David Guilbault
Run your fingers down my scar.
Let’s really find out just how
Far you’ll go
To want to know,
To feel the flow
Of what hurts me.
Run your thoughts right through my brain.
Let me know just when you
Feel the pain,
Feel the same,
Know the name
Of what hurts me.
I know that you’ve got your scars, too.
And I know what you have been put through,
What’s hurtin’ you.
‘Cause it’s hurtin’ me.
Wounds make us who we are.
And ev’ryone has got their
Scars to show.
They want you to know
And feel ev’ry blow
Of what hurts them.
I know that you’ve got your scars, too.
And I know what you have been put through,
What’s hurtin’ you.
‘Cause it’s hurtin’ me.

Words, They Fail

"WORDS, THEY FAIL" by David Guilbault
She tells me words fail her.
They can’t find their voice.
Thoughts inside her head can’t find their way.
Thinking in patterns
That only she knows.
What she really means she’s not ready to say.
My words come so easy,
Finding voice in the air.
Thoughts inside my head come crying out loud.
I listen for echoes,
For new things to know,
For ev’ry spoken truth to be found.
I try to hear.
She tries to tell.
But, words, they fail.
I don’t know what she’s saying.
She doesn’t say what she means.
Still we try and try to understand
What each one is thinking
In such diff’rent ways.
To know it like we know the touch of our hands.
I try to hear.
She tries to tell.
But, words, they fail.
She tells me words fail her.
They can’t find their voice.

When I'm With You

"WHEN I'M WITH YOU" by David Guilbault
I’m all alone.
I’m all alone.
I’m all alone when I’m with you.
I feel alone.
I feel alone.
I feel alone when I’m with you.
You leave a hole in my heart,
Even though we never are apart.
I live alone.
I live alone.
I live alone when I’m with you.
You know we’ve done this before.
You know you’re always walking out that door.
I am alone.
I am alone.
I am alone when I’m with you.
Won’t you open up your eyes?
Can’t you see, my dear, we’re broken up inside?
We’re all alone.
We’re all alone.
We’re all alone, you and I.

Don't You Even

"DON'T YOU EVEN" by David Guilbault
I’m no stranger to your charms.
I’ve spent so many nights deep in your arms
If I told you what was so,
Then you’d have to let me go.
I gotta go now, you know why.
Don’t you even start to cry.
This has been so long overdue
You and me, my dear, are through.
Through our days, through our long, lonely nights,
I’m amazed we got anything right.
Don’t you even act surprised.
Angry words hung in our air.
Nothing they said could make it clear.
What we sought, we could not find.
Nothing can make me change my mind.
Through our days, through our long, lonely nights,
I’m amazed we got anything right.
Don’t you even act surprised.

I Never Thought

"I NEVER THOUGHT" by David Guilbault
I never thought I could be this lonely.
I never thought I could be this sad.
I always thought there’d be someone to hold me.
I always thought there’d be someone so glad
To see me walk their way,
To take my hand and say – I love you.
Here I am now, alone and hurting.
Here I am now with no one who cares.
I always thought a life of love was certain.
I always thought there’d be someone to share
The passions of our day,
To take my hand and say – I love you.
I walk alone, with no hand to hold.
The days slip slowly into years.
Was the love I’ve had meant to be all I’d have?
I never thought I’d face that fear.
I’ve known true love, deep and soulful.
I’ve been blessed, time and again.
But I can’t go on with a life this lonely.
I hold out hope for one last love.
To see her walk my way,
Take my hand and say – I love you.
To see her walk my way.
Take my hand and say – I love you.
I never thought I could be this lonely.
I never thought I could be this sad.

On My Fingertips

"ON MY FINGERTIPS" by David Guilbault
The first time I opened your robe
My fingers found your skin,
And I found a home.
I can still – feel you here - on my fingertips.
The first time I quickened your breath
And I held your hips,
And I caressed your breast.
I can still - feel your release - on my fingertips.
My hands knew the curves of your body.
Felt the way it moved with mine.
They were always there
To brush away your tears.
They still feel you through time.
The first time I felt you leave,
My touch left cold,
My soul to grieve.
I can still - feel your loss - on my fingertips.
My hands knew the curves of your body.
Felt the way it moved with mine.
They touched you deep
And trembled with your love.
They still know you through time.
The first time I touched your heart
And you felt it true,
And it held you through.
I can feel - all of you - on my fingertips.
