"THE COFFEE AIN'T READY YET" by David Guilbault
The whiskey’s gone. The coffee ain’t ready yet.
Ev’rything is wrong. There’s a pounding in my head.
The whiskey’s gone. Can’t remember what I said.
The whiskey’s gone.
The coffee’s on.
I wish I was dead.
Ev’rything was fine when this party started off.
But, cigarettes and wine didn’t seem to be enough.
Had to open the rye. Had to open the rum.
The whiskey’s gone.
The coffee’s on.
What have I done?
What did I say to you? What did you tell me back?
Why are there scratches on my face and my back?
Why do you look at me like I have done you wrong?
When the whiskey pours I come undone.
The whiskey’s gone. The coffee ain’t ready yet.
Time to atone for my failings once again.
Time to go home, with old shame and new regret.
The whiskey’s gone.
The coffee’s on.
I wish I was dead.
The whiskey’s gone.
The coffee’s on.
I wish I was ...

Shame

"SHAME" by David Guilbault
I’m ashamed of what I’ve done.
I’ve come here to confess.
It’s a shame I’m not the only one
Who can put this shame to rest.
It’s hard and painful to truly say.
To tell the truth just like it was.
But the deeds I done won’t go away,
Until the tale is told, I trust.
Redemption is out of reach.
Forgiveness, not for me.
I need no comfort now, so don’t you preach.
Let me tell this truthfully.
I did it. Can’t tell you why.
I did it. I took her life.
I’m gonna plead innocent.
I want to save my own life.
Gonna have to live here with my sins.
But I ain’t ready for the light.
Don’t you tell a soul now what I’ve done.
You don’t know the reasons why.
I’m ashamed, but I’m not the only one.
To carry this secret ‘til I die.
I did it. Can’t tell you why.
I did it. I took her life.
I did it. Can’t tell you why.
I did it. I took her life.

"WHILE THE FAMILY HIDES" by David Guilbault
Auntie Evie is drinking heavy.
She don’t know what went wrong.
She’s all alone in the family home.
All the kids are long gone.
She’s too mean to die.
She’s too cruel to cry.
She just lives her lies while the family hides.
Uncle Harry is hardly married.
He knows all that’s gone wrong.
He leaves her alone in the family home.
He wants to be long gone.
She’s too mean to die.
She’s too cruel to cry.
She just lives her lies while the family hides.
“It’s not my fault,” she says.
“I won’t take the blame.”
“I don’t know why they fought,” she says.
“But, I think that it’s a shame.”
Number one son just swallowed his gun.
He couldn’t take any more.
Too may tears, too many fears,
Too many hearts made sore.
She’s too mean to die.
She’s too cruel to cry.
She just lives her lies while the family hides.
“It’s not my fault,” she says.
“I will not take the blame.”
“I don’t know why they fought,” she says.
“They should all be ashamed.”
Auntie Evie is drinking heavy.
She don’t know what went wrong.

"SO NOW" by David Guilbault
I know – the time has come.
I know – nowhere left to run.
I know, I know – the time is nigh.
I know – time to die.
You know – who meant to hurt.
You know – who deserves the dirt.
You know, you know – who caused the pain.
You know – time to pay.
So now – the move is slow.
So now – you reap what you sow.
So now, so now – the trigger squeeze
So now – done, the deed.
Gone now – the soul shall fall.
Gone now – evil’s call.
Gone now, gone now – sinful one.
Gone now – justice done.
Gone now, gone now – sinful one.
Gone now.

"I'M GONE" by David Guilbault
I’m at the gates of hell.
They’re callin’ out my name
I know this place too well.
For that I am ashamed.
I’m gone. I am gone.
I’m gone. I am gone.
The light was gettin’ near.
I didn’t want to go.
There’s somethin’ fright’ning there,
Hidden in the known.
I’m gone. I am gone.
I’m gone. I am gone.
I’m gone - where I’ve never been.
I’m gone - and the sun don’t shine.
I’m gone - ain’t no where or when.
I’m gone – take my time.
I’m gone – take my time.
I’m gone. I am gone.
So, look no more
For me in light of day.
I escaped the light.
When darkness laid its claim.
I’m gone. I am gone.
I’m gone. I am gone.
I’m gone - where I’ve never been.
I’m gone - and the sun don’t shine.
I’m gone - ain’t no where or when.
I’m gone – take my time.
I’m gone – take my time.
I’m gone. I am gone.
I’m at the gates of hell.
They’re callin’ out my name.

All Hell's Broke Loose

"ALL HELL'S BROKE LOOSE" by David Guilbault
All hell’s broke loose.
The angels are moving fast
To braid a godly noose and kill the caste.
Time to close the truth.
All is naught and naught is all.
Now is then, then is now, and now is past.
Godly souls new born to endless sky.
Pain and fear and misery set free to die.
No one gets to choose.
Been happening long before.
Spirits go when and where they go.
No one can refuse.
Always walking through that door.
Nothing yet to learn, nothing left to know.
Goodly souls new born to endless sky.
Pain and fear and misery set free to die.
All hell’s broke loose.
The angels are moving fast
Time to mend the future; present; past.
There is no truth.
All that was is gone away.
All is all and all is all is all.
All is all and all is all is all.
All is all and all is all is all.
