"DARKNESS DUCKING LIGHT" by David & Brent Guilbault Ooh, la la, there’s a coup d'etat, right here in my home. As I watch they’re taking stock, of ev’rything I own. I don’t know who to give to anymore. Ev’rything I own is moving out the door. All across South America, they’re chopping down the trees. All across North America, they’ve been chopping down me. I don’t know what I should worry about, All the forests coming down, or me being down and out. It’s a selfish world, And it always twirls for some Clever ones. He woulda, shoulda, coulda done it, if he only knew What would happen if he did, if he saw it through? Convictions and contradictions, competing for the right To control the mighty flow, of darkness ducking light. Who’s standing up for you? Who’s holding down the fort? Who’d give their life to play their part, in your heart? What is your story? What is your song? In the telling can you tell what’s right from wrong? Ooh, la la, there’s a coup d'etat, right here in my home. As I watch they’re taking stock, of ev’rything I own. I don’t know who to give to anymore. Ev’rything I am is moving out that door. "OFF OF MY FEET" by David Guilbault Something’s tearing at my soul. A torn spirit is losing control Of my senses, lost directions, Predilections for vanishing goals. And I just don’t know the way anymore. I find me stumbling out of the door, And off of my feet. Sweet Lord, is there no hope for a wretch like me? Is there something I don’t know that will set me free? I’m looking for a sign, to tell me I’m all right, To show me how it’s got to be. Something’s tearing at my brain. A torn mind is going insane; Wracked by visions, wrong decisions, Inhibitions tempered by pain. And I just don’t know the way anymore. I find me stumbling out of the door, And off of my feet. People in their private worlds, passing me by People with their private dreams, working out fine. Why can’t those dreams be mine, Like words written on a line, Something that I can touch and see? Something’s tearing at my bones. A torn body is growing old; Slowly dying, deifying Every moment yet to unfold. And I just don’t know the way anymore. I find me stumbling out of the door, And off of my feet. "Off Of My Feet" © 1974 David Guilbault _________________________

"THAT PUNISHING RAIN" by David Guilbault I feel the breath on my neck, A blistering wind. It’s coming down hard now, That punishing rain. I’m wet to the bone again. I hear the steps at my back, A gathering storm. It’s coming down hard now, That punishing rain. I’m wet to the bone again. I don’t fear Jesus. But I’m afraid of my own hand. Lord I just can’t go through this again. I just can’t live through this again. I dread the knock on my door, A rising flood. It’s coming down hard now, That punishing rain. I’m wet to the bone again. I await the hand on my heart, A beckoning calm. It’s coming down hard now, That punishing rain. I’m cold to the bone again. I’m cold to the bone again. "NOTHING MATTERS ANYMORE" by David Guilbault Nothing matters anymore. Nothing’s really worth all of the hassle. Nothing’s really worth all of the pain. And I can’t take it anymore. Can’t face the problems that I have to tackle. Can’t bring another try again. ‘Cause all of my dreams are gone And all that’s strong Was left so long behind me. And all that is wrong with life Just hangs in the sky Like the dark clouds high above me. Nothing matters anymore. So why in the hell should I go and worry? Tell me why in the hell I should even care? When all of my dreams are gone And all that’s strong Was left so long behind me. And all that is wrong with life Just hangs in the sky Like the dark clouds high above me. Sure it’s true that I look for it some, But it comes just the same And it’s been here to stay, Breeds night and day In my mind. Tell me things are all right, tell me lies, I don’t know, I don’t care, I don’t go anywhere, And you know that it’s there I belong. Nothing matters anymore. Nothing’s really worth all of the hassle. Nothing’s really worth all of the pain. "Nothing Matters Anymore" © 1977 David Guilbault _________________________

Now is Over 05:15
"NOW IS OVER" by David Guilbault My journey isn’t over. But, I’ve reached the end of my road. My story’s far from over. Yet, there’s no more to be told. I keep dreaming the world is ending. Life’s upending; warm is cold. Now is over. Truth, be told. What we know can change in a moment. What was so can cease to be. We keep on moving towards tomorrow, Keeping true to history. I keep dreaming the world is ending. Life’s upending; day is night. Now is over. See the light. It’s past the time to pay the piper for his song. The piper plays for just so long, Until your cache of life is gone. Nothing left here to hold on to. Still there’s so much more to say. There not enough time in a lifetime, When it’s taken all away. I keep dreaming, it’s just beginning. The end is starting; then is gone. Now is over. Hear my song. "Now Is Over" © 2009 David Guilbault _________________________

"GIMME MORE TIME" by David Guilbault Gimme, gimme, gimme, Gimme, gimme, gimme, more time. Gimme, gimme, gimme, Gimme, gimme, gimme, more time. I can take whatever you got And then I’ll want some more. Ev’ry tick and tock and striking Of the clock that I am livin’ for. Time is something that is nothing But a notion we can’t own. We can take our time until it’s up And life is all but flown. Ev’ry single day and ev’ry night And ev’ry year goes by. Still there’s nothing we can do to Really stop the time that flies. Gimme, gimme, gimme, Gimme, gimme, gimme, more time. Gimme, gimme, gimme, Gimme, gimme, gimme, more time. There is so much more in store and More for me to see and do. Ev’ry minute left in life is Really meant to live it through. "Gimme More Time" © 2009 David Guilbault _________________________

OVER: Indie Pop

"Over" takes a cold, hard look at sadness and redemption. When you've reached the darkest depths of your depression, knocked off of your feet, feeling punished by the rain, and nothing seems to matter, there's nothing left to do but to climb up and out. Producer Colin J Nelson does masterful work conveying opposing sentiments of despondency and reinvigoration with his lush, layered, poignant arrangements. Gimme more time. This ain't over.
