"HERE, ALONE" by David Guilbault
Here, alone. By my/self.
Here, alone. No one else.
Here, alone , you can feel the moan.
Here, alone. Feel the air.
There’s a still.
The wind moves over there.
Here, alone. Quiet night.
Here, alone. Feeling tight.
Here, alone. You can hear the sigh.
Here, alone. Mark the time.
There’s a still.
The world moves out of sight.
(CHORUS)
You can fill your space,
Chock to the brim.
You can build your place
Just to wall all the loneliness in.
Here, alone. Seconds tick.
Here, alone. Getting’ sick.
Here, alone. You can hear the cry.
Here, alone. Day to day.
There’s a still.
Life has moved away.

"DIRTY MONEY" by David Guilbault
Dirty money. Dirty money.
I’m being bought and sold with dirty money.
Filthy lies. Filthy lies.
You can buy a world of hurt with filthy lies.
You can buy a world of hurt with filthy lies.
Who’s fooling who? Who took the bait?
Who stole the seal that sealed the poor man’s fate?
Who took the cash from the working hands?
Who took him down and paid the man?
It’s a crying shame, what’s being done.
There’s a robbery and the lawman’s got the gun.
The hunter court leads the way.
They lying thief collects the pay.
Nowhere to go. Nothing more to say.
The hand of state knows it can have its way.
The vultures fly. They own the sky.
They pick the life out of your eyes.
They pick the life out of your eyes.

"THE COFFEE AIN'T READY YET" by David Guilbault
The whiskey’s gone. The coffee ain’t ready yet.
Ev’rything is wrong. There’s a pounding in my head.
The whiskey’s gone. Can’t remember what I said.
The whiskey’s gone.
The coffee’s on.
I wish I was dead.
Ev’rything was fine when this party started off.
But, cigarettes and wine didn’t seem to be enough.
Had to open the rye. Had to open the rum.
The whiskey’s gone.
The coffee’s on.
What have I done?
What did I say to you? What did you tell me back?
Why are there scratches on my face and my back?
Why do you look at me like I have done you wrong?
When the whiskey pours I come undone.
The whiskey’s gone. The coffee ain’t ready yet.
Time to atone for my failings once again.
Time to go home, with old shame and new regret.
The whiskey’s gone.
The coffee’s on.
I wish I was dead.
The whiskey’s gone.
The coffee’s on.
I wish I was ...

Where I See

"WHERE I SEE" by David Guilbault
In the dark is where I see,
When the night takes hold of me.
In the twilight there is truth.
Dark blue calm. All Alone.
Vision ponders darkness yet to come.
Sometimes it can be so clear,
That the shadows disappear.
Ev’rything is as it seems.
Save the dark. Save the light.
Truth stands solid, revealing what is right.
Love is seldom why we part.
Rarely is there loss of heart.
It’s the pain that breaks the bonds.
Chronic hurts, unkind words,
Fray the heartstrings tethered to love’s worth.
Wounds of love will take their toll.
Over time they’ll kill the soul.
And the passion turns to pain,
Turns to hurt, turns to tears,
Takes the goodness and turns it into fear.
In the dark is where I see,
When the night takes hold of me.
In the twilight there is truth.
Love is week, breaks from strain.
Love is never stronger than the pain.
In the dark is where I see.
