"WAVES OF BLUE" by David Guilbault Waves of blue, darkening my view. There’s a squall inside my brain. Foreboding skies, behind my eyes. Swirling winds of a hurricane. And it’s blowin’, it’s blowin’ like never before. With the deafening sound of emotional war. Didn’t feel it coming Again this time. Didn’t feel it rise up in my mind. Waves of blue that I can’t slip through. Winds of woe take away my breath. No warning signs before I’m terrorized. Falling fast into the depths. And it’s falling, I’m falling like never before. Into the hole that I abhor. Didn’t feel it coming Again this time. Didn’t feel it rise up in my mind. Waves of blue. What am I to do When they rise anew and take me down? "THIS IS THE FIRST DAY" by David Guilbault This is the first day. Counting them off now. One by one, until they’re gone. These stolen moments. Blessings and favors. Embrace them all, until they’re gone. Gone from this life of wondrous woe. Body and mind, spirit and soul. And so it goes. This is the first day. Cherish them all now. Look to the loves that you have sown. Thank ev’ry heartbeat. Rejoice in the kindness. Awake to an unrelenting dawn. Dawn brings a cure of light of hope. Body and mind, spirit and soul. And so it goes. This is the first day. The die it is cast now. Fate is forged in kingdom come. Born to the unknown. Warmed by my children. Owning time ‘til time is done. Done are the days of toil and toll. Body and mind, spirit and soul. And so I go. "This is the First Day" © 2019 David Guilbault _________________________

"ON MY FINGERTIPS" by David Guilbault The first time I opened your robe My fingers found your skin, And I found a home. I can still – feel you here - on my fingertips. The first time I quickened your breath And I held your hips, And I caressed your breast. I can still - feel your release - on my fingertips. My hands knew the curves of your body. Felt the way it moved with mine. They were always there To brush away your tears. They still feel you through time. The first time I felt you leave, My touch left cold, My soul to grieve. I can still - feel your loss - on my fingertips. My hands knew the curves of your body. Felt the way it moved with mine. They touched you deep And trembled with your love. They still know you through time. The first time I touched your heart And you felt it true, And it held you through. I can feel - all of you - on my fingertips. Empty 04:38
"EMPTY" by David Guilbault Empty. Empty. This world’s become so empty. Empty. Empty. This world’s become so empty. There’s something missing from this place. Look around and you won’t see a face That looks alive, that still has sight, That holds a glow of loving light. Empty. Empty. This life’s become so empty. Empty. Empty. This life’s become so empty. Hollow words and vacant eyes. Forsaken souls, vacated lives. Exhausted hearts beating their last sparks. Dying embers in a cold and darkened hearth. Empty. Empty. We’ve become so empty. Empty. Empty. We’ve become so empty. When the power’s gone it ain’t but gone. There ain’t no flow when it’s all drawn. The cells will die. The wells run dry. There ain’t no charge to spark the dawn. Empty. Empty. This world’s become so empty. "Empty" © 2018 David Guilbault _________________________

"BY HIS OWN LIPS" by David Guilbault Betrayed - by his own lips. He was afraid – she would get hip. Now he’s been made. – He’s shown his kiss To be blue. Betrayed – by his own lips. He played fast and loose – with the sweet fibs. Now he’s about to lose – all the kind bliss He once knew. Betrayed. Betrayed. By his own lips. By his own lips. Betrayed. It’s strange – ‘cause he knew this. It was deranged – to even try and wish That he could change – from the lying lover He was. Damage done – ain’t no goin’ back. What’s done is done. – What’s fact is fact. I tell you, son – He did this To himself, to himself. Betrayed. Betrayed. By his own lips. By his own lips. Betrayed. Betrayed - by his own lips. His heart, they say – wasn’t into this. So comes this day. – He’s shown his kiss To be blue. "By His Own Lips" © 2019 David Guilbault _________________________

In the Truth 04:40
"IN THE TRUTH" by David Guilbault We’ve got to live In the Truth. We’ve got to live In the Truth. The light that shines - on the lies sometimes Breaks through. And our eyes that hide - from the hurt inside Can trust the view When we live, when we live In the Truth. Dishonesty will wound our souls. This treachery will leave us cold. The lies we tell - to hide ourselves Will bring us down. A life - of well-lived grace Cannot be found, ‘Till we live, ‘till we live In the Truth. Truth is hard - when it drops the guard Of faith we hold. But, truth can’t free - what is meant to be Until it’s told, Until it’s told, Until it’s told. We’ve got to live In the Truth. We’ve got to live In the Truth. Break the chains - that hold our shame In fearful guile. Call its name, - let us all proclaim The honest cry. That we live, that we live In the Truth.
