Each Morning 02:56
"EACH MORNING" by David Guilbault Love grabbed me fast, caught in a daze, Losing track of the time and the place. I fell into her eyes. The spell of love hit me hard by surprise. Now she wakes me each morning with a smile; Loving eyes that drive me wild. What a beautiful way to start a morning. I have fallen in love with her day by day. Skin soft and warm as she lays by my side. Heaven knows this is good and it’s right. I can’t get over how happy I feel. She gives to me a love so tender and real. She wakes me each morning with a smile; Loving eyes that drive me wild. What a beautiful way to start a morning. I am falling in love with her more each day. My love’s renewed with each rising sun, When her eyes tell me I’m her only one, And her smile puts the light in my morning. I’m a complete man, sharing each morning with her. "DEW-KISSED ROSE" by David Guilbault You, my love. I couldn’t stand to lose. The storm winds blowing the sorry news Would surely sweep my soul from my being, Leaving me cold And lost in the night. Beside you, under sheets so white, Your skin feels like a summer night, Warm as sun swept days, lost in the country, Far from the ways Of the city below. Soft you are and soft I’ll hold you, love, Like a petal of dew-kissed rose, dew-kissed rose. A man’ fulfilled at his lover’s breast, As she gives him peace and gentle rest From the rainstorms in his eyes. Slowly together, Starts the night on fire with their love. Soft you are and soft I’ll hold you, love, Like a petal of dew-kissed rose, dew-kissed rose. "Dew-Kissed Rose" © 1972 David Guilbault

Watchman 03:47
"WATCHMAN" by David Guilbault I must walk along her fear, like a watchman, And she will trust in me. And I won’t fail to keep her safely. And I won’t fail to keep my watch. I must protect her dreams, like a watchman, And she will dream in me. And I won’t fail to keep her restful. No, I won’t fail to keep my watch. On her own she went out unprotected. Tragically she went out unprepared. Now, I am here to stand beside her life. I am a man, devoted to her care. I must patrol her smile, like a watchman. And she will laugh with me. And I won’t fail to keep her happy. No, I won’t fail to keep my watch. On her own she went out unprotected. Tragically she went out unprepared. Now, I am here to stand beside her life. I am a man, devoted to her care. I must stand at her edge, like a watchman. And she will hold on to me. And I won’t fail to keep her living. No, I won’t fail to keep my watch. I Can't See 02:02
"I CAN'T SEE" by David Guilbault I’m looking out of a window That I can’t see out of. I’m looking through a doorway I can’t see through. Emotional blindness. Sight full of pain. I suppose my mind is Making my eyes insane. I can’t see what’s up, what’s out, what’s in. I can’t see what’s going on. I can’t see, by God, the state I’m in, The pain I’m in, how long it’s been. And I can’t see what’s ‘round the bend. I’m seeing things where there’s nothing. I’m seeing nothing clear. I’m clearing out the way For getting out of here. I can’t see what’s up, what’s out, what’s in. I can’t see what’s going on. I can’t see, by God, the state I’m in, The pain I’m in, how long it’s been. And I can’t see what’s ‘round the bend. Paperwork 02:18
"PAPERWORK" by David Guilbault Someone knows your name. They know where you live. They’re up on your game. They’ve got the paperwork. You’re theirs ‘til the end. You’re theirs ‘til they’re through. They’re not through with you yet. They’ve got the paperwork. Follows you around. Hardly makes a sound ‘til you’ve been found by the paperwork. This one’s due on the ninth. This one says the twelfth. This one says do this And that one says do that. It’s not about life. It’s not about love. It’s not about art. It’s about the paperwork. Follows you around. Hardly makes a sound ‘til you’ve been found by the paperwork. I’m gonna burn down all the trees. Tear eve’ry one of ‘em down So I can't be found... Follows you around. Hardly makes a sound ‘til you’ve been bound by the paperwork. "Paperwork" © 1996 David Guilbault

"CLOSE TO MY HEART" by David Guilbault Close to my heart. Far from my sight. My darling daughter how I miss you tonight. We broke apart because of the heartbreak That comes when a family breaks in two. I miss you dear son, your smile and your laughter. Your happy life is all that I’m after. We can’t be together because you were taken When our family broke in two. I was lost. You both were torn In the battles of hate and scorn. Someday you’ll know just what is true. No one will ever love you more than I do. Now I’m alone and you’re far away. I want to be part of your every day. You need my wisdom. You need my care. You need my love and I need to be there. Now I’m lost. You both are torn By the battles by hate and scorn. Someday you’ll know just what is true. No one will ever love you more than I do. Close to my heart. Far from my sight. My darling children how I miss you tonight. "Close to My Heart" © 1996 David Guilbault

TORN: Acoustic Folk

Courtship > Marriage > Disillusionment > Obligations > Separations > Divorce > Estrangements > Repercussions. "Torn" is a collection of songs from the beginning and the end of a marriage. What starts as unbridled love tarnishes into scorn and hatred. The first three songs were written in the early Seventies at the beginning of the marriage. The last three were written twenty years after the marriage's end.
